This one has been ongoing while for sometime but completion is in sight. Scaffold starting to come down around the exterior and a good amount of interior finishing is done. Internal joinery and immediate hardscaping around the house edges are on the way.
This small one bedroom house is not far from completion. Being that the owner works for an airline, the site overlooks Wellington Airport and Lyall Bay, and that the size of the house (51sqm incl. garage) reminds you of the luggage that fits conveniently in the overhead compartment of an aeroplane, the suitcase house might be a good name for this project.
Scaffold down and final fix underway for the house up beyond the Brooklyn turbine.
We’ve been a bit quiet on the news feed lately (not for lack of content!).
Melrose House has begun.
The skin is growing on the glulam frames at the turbine look out.
The interior of the Roseneath villa has spilled open
Glulam portal frames are in place with the linking members to come.

Here are some images from a project currently under construction in Porirua.
The addition is macrocarpa clad with timber joinery and painted panel infill. Part of the idea is that the raw timber will age nicely next to the older brick cladding of the original state house.
Hello. We’ve uploaded some more projects onto the portfolio page. This charming little garden studio in Paekakariki on the Kapiti Coast and this stealthy getaway house up in Kuratau next to Lake Taupo.
The photos are a little preemptive in that the projects weren’t quite finished at the time but we will have some nice completed shots online pretty soon.
Also we’ve got a few other completed jobs that we need to photograph for the website so stay tuned as the portfolio will be getting some more content real soon.
The alteration up in Wilton is cranking along. The guys on site got the roof on before the rough weather hit so the existing house was spared relying on tarps for the real cold stuff. Not far from being closed in, and the deck bridge structure is in place. Awesome day up on site for these pictures catching the last of the winter western sun.
This is a small but significant addition to a three bedroom house in Wilton, Wellington.
This alteration in Beach Haven, Auckland is all but complete. The Macrocarpa framed panels have now been painted and the full design is now apparent. Many thanks to the owners for supplying the images.
This little house in Waiheke is nearing to its completion. Interior fit out has starting and some great swamp Matai flooring has been laid.

This project kicked off in May 2014. We are converting the attic and adding a sunken lounge to this family home in Hataitai. The new floor area will make the most of the sun and the stunning views from this property. These images show the demotion and foundations, as well as the extension framing in place.
This little house in Mangere Bridge has been finished up. The clients sent some images through recently now that they are all moved in. One of the last designs guided by the steady hand of Gerald Melling.

Here is the latest batch of photos to come from the medical centre project in Newtown.Enjoy.
This is the first shot of the front of the house we have been able to get due to an old garage being in the way. Now that the garage is demolished the house is revealed for the first time. We’re told it’s about 4 weeks off completion.
We’ve been working on the conversion of an garage to a 45m2 studio following a sketch design done by Gerald Melling. Its lofty 3.5m stud can be appreciated now the linings are on. Awaiting the final pieces mac trim, the exterior is almost complete. Geoff Askew and his team are doing a fine job.
The main part of the exterior works are drawing to a close for the medical centre. Internal fitout is under way with much of the services going in. Shouldn’t be long till the scaffold is down and the bulk of the building will be properly seen for the first time. New street awning to come in the new year.
The Northland Road extension is nearing completion after a long winter of building. The spring sun is pouring through the skylights and the Macrocarpa deck is ready for the summer outdoor dining and barbecues.
Last pieces of butynol to go down and the medical centre will be fully roofed.
Internal layouts for all floors taking shape, first fit for many of the trades about to take place so site is about to become very busy. Aim is to have all cladding and painting done before Christmas break so scaffolding can come down.
This project is also nearing completion. The new 2-storey extension has opened up views to the Cook Strait and the harbour for this Northland family. These photos are taken before the balustrade is fitted, and you really get a feel of how the volume works.
You know the job is going well when the contractor says to you that he “wouldn’t of missed building this for the world”. That’s pretty good, as the world is fairly impressive…
Metal roofing being installed, building wrap is all but done and windows starting to go in.
Got up on the roof today. Plywood substrate going down for membrane roof and rafters ready for metal roof.
Some more pics from site in Newtown. Cladding starting to go on and roof framing in progress.
The Garage at the Cherry Tree House is not far off completion. Not long and the main house will be under construction. Check out the project in the portfolio area for a bit of a peek at the design for the entire scheme.
Some images from site meeting last week. Second floor wall framing was being tilted up. Cladding at ground level to come soon.
“Garage door on. Wellesley rd fire station perhaps?” – Client quote
Check out the latest at the medical clinic. Pretty awesome scaffolding bridging over the right of way.
Bit of an image showing one of the light wells for the new medical clinic. Hopefully that dirt will one day be a thriving native garden.
Here is a image of the steel structure for the lift shaft.
On a stunning site overlooking the town belt and harbour this project created two new houses.
The north, east and west walls of the living spaces are extensively glazed to take advantage of sun and views. Prefabricated insulated panels on an exposed glulam timber frame are used to create the main external structure, with the exception of the lower level bedroom block. The bedroom block is an earth-sheltered structure designed to reduce the visual impact of the building as well as create a usable grass roof area.
The build was carried out by Planit Construction who did a great job on this complex project.
